2020 In Review

Our Centennial Year in Review

Thank you for helping us celebrate our Centennial throughout the past year! Despite unusual and challenging times, Chargers came together in so many ways to show our true spirit. From a special February event in Boca Raton, Florida, before the pandemic, to Virtual Homecoming a few weeks ago, our alumni, students, faculty, staff, and friends connected and reconnected to commemorate our 100th year, proving our allegiance to the University and our commitment to each other.

In the spring, the Charger statue – a symbol of unity – was installed at the heart of campus, and the Pompea College of Business was named for benefactors Charles E. Pompea '71, '90 EMBA, '06 Hon., Tamera Pompea, and the Pompea family. Later in the year, we unveiled the cutting-edge Bergami Center for Science, Technology, and Innovation with a conversation featuring benefactor Sam Bergami ’85 EMBA, ’02 Hon., President Kaplan, and renowned physicist Michio Kaku. The year also included virtual events for Founders Day, the Class of 2020 Commencement, and our Centennial Ball, which showcased our incredible students and alumni and brought together Chargers from around the world.

In all ways, 2020 was a testament to the resilience and steadfast spirit of the University of New Haven community. Thank you for making our Centennial year so special and truly memorable. Cheers to the first Charger Century, and we look forward to our second century of success!
