Florida Centennial Celebration Weekend

Join fellow alumni, University faculty, parents, and friends in Boca Raton for a special celebration weekend to kick off our Centennial! This is a special time, and whether it’s been a few years or a few decades since you’ve last connected with the University, our Centennial is the best time to rekindle your Charger pride.

We are hosting some terrific events organized specifically for our alumni, parents, and friends (below in blue), and the Boca area offers many great activities for visitors and locals alike.

Friday, February 7, 2020 

Gumbo Limbo Nature Center • 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Visit Gumbo Limbo's 20 acre protected refuge and take a stroll on the boardwalk, count the thousands of tropical fish in the aquariums, relax in the butterfly garden, or check in on the patients in the sea turtle rehabilitation facility. I Visit site

A Taste of Mizner Park • Mizner Park, Boca Raton  •  2 p.m. - 5 p.m.
Experience an unparalleled array of award-winning dining and wine-ing choices in Downtown Boca with this three hour culinary adventure that will introduce you to flavors from all over the world. Registration required ($75pp). I REGISTER

Boca Raton Seafood Music & Festival • Mizner Park, Boca Raton • 4 - 10 p.m.
Sample a variety of delectable foods cooked fresh on site, including seafood, meat, and vegetarian dishes. Then enjoy the entertainment, ranging from salsa to blues, and indie to soul. Complimentary ticket to the festival is included with your Centennial Celebration Weekend registration. I Visit site

University of New Haven Welcome Reception • Yard House Restaurant, Mizner Park  •  6 - 7:30 p.m.
Stop by for a casual welcome reception to pick up your materials for the weekend and enjoy a drink before heading out to dinner. Registration required (free to attend). I REGISTER

Riverboat Cruise and Brunch • Bahia Bar Docks, Ft. Lauderdale • 10 - 11:30 a.m.
Enjoy a fully narrated, 90-minute sightseeing cruise down the "Venice of America," Fort Lauderdale's historic New River. You will sail through Millionaire's Row, with homes of the rich and famous, spectacular mega yachts, and sights beyond belief. Boarding begins at 9:30 a.m. Registration required ($40pp). Enjoy cocktails and hors d'oeuvres while reconnecting and reminiscing with fellow alumni, parents, University professors, and your alma mater. Hosted by Ernie Schaub '72, '08 Hon. and Sandie Schaub. 11th Annual Boca Raton Concours d'Elegance • Boca Raton Resort & Club • 10 a.m.
The finest collector cars and motorcycles from around the country will gather on the show field at the famed Boca Resort & Club. On display will be an exquisite collection of Dusenbergs, in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Straight Eight "Model A." I Visit site
