Homecoming Fosters Community, Connections, and Charger Pride
For the thousands of Chargers who took part in Homecoming Weekend, the celebration was a fun and meaningful way to reconnect with their fellow members of Charger Nation and to see firsthand the exciting changes taking place on campus.
The weekend included a special Centennial Commencement on Saturday morning for hundreds of members of the graduating classes of 2020 who did not have an in-person ceremony because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The festivities also featured the official groundbreaking of the Peterson Performance Center, a 31,000 square-foot athletics training facility being built on North Campus. Named in recognition of a lead gift by David Peterson Jr. ’88, 17 Hon., a member of the University’s Board of Governors and a former defensive end on the University’s football team, the Center will transform the way our student-athletes train.
